Sharing and editing question bases together
ContentsHow sharing a base works
A shared base is one and the same for everyone who has access to it: changes made by one person are seen by the others. This is different from sending a copy of a game or logo, where everyone gets their own, independent copy Sending games and logos to friends.
A base is shared by its owner; this requires an account Ways to use the app.
Inviting people to a base
- On the Question bases page, select your base and choose Share in the bottom bar.
- Enter an email address or username, or select people in the "Friends" list.
- At the bottom of the window choose the access level: "Can edit" (the default) or "View only", and choose Share — with several recipients the button shows their number, e.g. Share (3). Everyone from this window gets the same access level.
After sending, the window closes. If an invitation cannot be sent (e.g. the person is no longer your friend), the window stays open and shows a message.
The invited person does not have to be your friend, but they must have an account. If they have notifications turned on, they get an email with a link.
Accepting an invitation and opening a base
You will see the invitation on the Question bases page, in the "Shared" tab — as a "Proposed" tile with a "From: …" label. The counter next to the tab shows the number of invitations.
- Accept — the base stays in the "Shared" tab; you open it with the Browse button.
- Decline — the invitation disappears. You can undo the decline in the declined section.
An invitation that is not accepted expires after 5 days.
Access levels
| Who | Label | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | a tile on the "My bases" tab | everything: edit, share, rename, Duplicate and delete the base |
| Edit | a pencil icon on the tile | add, change, move and delete questions, folders and tags; create games from them; export questions from games into this base Importing and exporting |
| Read | an eye icon on the tile | browse the base and export it to a file |
A person with read access cannot create a game directly from the base. They can export the base to a file, import it as their own What a question base is for and create a game there.

Working together and managing access
Editing together. When someone is editing a question, folder or tag, that item is busy for a moment. If you try to change it at the same time, you will see the message "This database item is currently being edited in another tab or by another user." Wait a moment and try again. While someone has the base open, the owner cannot rename or delete it.
Managing access (owner). The Shares window (button in the top bar) shows pending, accepted and declined invitations. Next to each person you can:
- change the access level with the "Can edit" / "View only" button — the change is saved immediately, even before the invitation is accepted,
- send a reminder about a pending invitation — the next one after the countdown on the button,
- revoke access or cancel an invitation with the trash icon.
A person whose access is revoked loses it immediately — if they have the base open, they will see the message "Access revoked". You can also leave a base shared with you yourself with the Remove from list button.
Removing someone from your friends does not revoke their access to bases — do that separately Managing your friends list.
